Valentine's Day Zines: Free to Download and DIY at Home ('cause Love shall be Shared) - PART I.

Updated: Jan 28

Yes, I've been into zines - that's no secret if you've been here before. I'm returning to the topic like a boomerang, seasonal, enthusiastic, grossly overestimating my skills. But hey, we are in a learning process and after creating a Christmassy one on Santa's socks (just as poetic as you'd expect it to be) - something you can check out and download free for yourself here:

...I've returned to the genre, though this time - respecting the timeline, following the season -

to love & romance.

And two more - also quite clumsily written - baby poems of mine edited and uploaded for you as zines. To print and DIY. Free to download. And maybe to send to your lover via post, leave behind neatly arranged on a table for them to find after a long day of work, or just sneak into their hands when there is no time for long monologues. Or when you just want to give something material - but not materialistic.

And mind! This is only PART I. Come back in a week, and you'll have two more zines to choose from.

But before showing what I've got for you today, let's talk materials: what you will need for crafting these zines:

And then, there is something important to mind:

Zines are NOT about perfection. They are about THE heart. If you are after perfection, you are on the wrong blog. In the case of zines, especially, you need to go with whatever happens. To give you an example, guess who printed one of her zines out in a miniature version by accident?

Yes. This was supposed to be printed in an A4 format.
Yes. This was supposed to be printed in an A4 format.

Someone needed a few rounds with the printer to find the right settings, haha. Still, a baby zine was printed, a baby zine was made. A tiny, palm-sized but loveable one:

But how can you make these zines?

To model it on this baby zine you need to:

1.) print out the template (as an A4 sheet)

2.) fold it alongside the eight pictures (try to be precise, but we know what happens, happens...):

3.) cut it between the inner four pictures (alongside the black line):

This is what you'll end up with:

4.) Fold it this way:

And you will have your little zine! (You can tape the pages together, although you don't have to!)

About the zines you can download in this post:

1.) Breeze Me Light has three versions:

a.) a minimalistic one in colour (yellow, black and white). Composed of some of these pages and illustrations:

You can download it here:

b) a minimalistic version in black and white (for those who can print at home but not in colour - like this creator) - the illustrations are the same as in the previous one!

You can download it here:

c) a romantic and somewhat more pink-ish, maximalist edition:

(with a completely different design but the same text)

You can download it here:

2.) Forests, Wild Terrains has one version - a colourful one:

...with a completely different poem. Here are a few pictures from it:

You can download it here:

And am I a proud Zine Parent? Kinda. But no shame in that. Just joy.

And more zine kiddos are coming in the future. Two more next week - for sure.:)

Till then, happy DIYing, everyone!

Mind your light!
